HOW CAN YOU HELP?

MAJOR PROgrams

Inspired in King Arthur’s mythical sword, MagicWaste Youth Foundation’s EXCALIBUR Project seeks to empower more than 300 young men and women who age out of South Florida’s foster care system every year by providing substantial assistance with their housing expenses. Potential candidates must meet stringent requirements.

To make this program a success, MWYF has partnered with CITRUS FAMILY CARE NETWORK (Citrus FCN), the Community Based Care Lead Agency for Child Welfare in Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties.

Access to higher education is the best opportunity —and reward— that our organization can offer any former foster youth that has emerged victorious from his or her special circumstances and attained a high school diploma. This is why MWYF entered into a strategic alliance with MIAMI-DADE COLLEGE FOUNDATION three years ago and currently funds six (6) scholarships every year exclusively for former foster care young adults enrolled at MDC.

OTHER COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

MY THINGS! DUFFEL BAG PROGRAM

Did you know that foster children may move from one foster home to another an average of 4 to 6 times while in the foster care system —some even more than 15 times— and that they usually carry their belongings in supermarket or trash bags?

Not in Miami-Dade County, thanks to generous corporate and personal donations to MWYF’s My Things! Duffel Bag Program!

COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAM

Our quest to learn about our community’s disadvantaged individuals —and the programs that seek to assist them— led us to an amazing organization: the Chapman Partnership, another one of MWYF’s strategic alliances, which operates two homeless assistance centers in Downtown Miami and Homestead, where our team members help serve lunch to residents.

HOLIDAY SPORTS EQUIPMENT DRIVE

MWYF firmly believes in the power of sports to create strong and safe kids and communities, as they help develop a healthy weight, motor skills and social skills, self-confidence, teamwork and sportsmanship, friendships… They’re just plain fun and keep kids off the streets. So we dedicate our fun-filled, annual Christmas networking event to raise funds to purchase sports balls and accessories.
